Air Travel The sooner you book your flights the better. Our highly recommended air partner is Martin Travel near our office in Roanoke VA, USA. To request a flight quote, please download and complete this short form and fax or email it to Martin Travel: Click to Download Air Booking Request Form
We also specialize in luxury charter air travel and can arrange private charters to and from East Africa in 12-seater Falcon jets or similar. Airline Options: We recommend you fly with KLM from Amsterdam to Kilimanjaro International Airport. Be aware that the cheapest fares sell out early. These flights depart Amsterdam in the late morning and arrive in Kilimanjaro at 9:30pm. Another option is to fly to Nairobi International in Kenya, and take the connecting 45-minute shuttle flight to Kilimanjaro. It is cheaper and easier to book all the flights as part of your international itinerary. The flight to Kilimanjaro from Nairobi costs about $225 one way. See the Nairobi Airport map.
If you want to save money, you can take one of two shuttles from Nairobi to the Kilimanjaro area. These buses take about 5-6 hours and costs about $30. It is a bumpy ride and hot and always crowded but you "may" actually enjoy the experience! Please book these yourself! We do not recommend this. I f you arrive in Nairobi too late to catch the 6pm flight, we strongly suggest you stay in Nairobi instead of trying to catch one of the few evening flights to Kilimanjaro. For safety reasons we do NOT transfer clients after 10pm in Tanzania. In Nairobi, we book only the Panari Hotel for overnights because it is nearest to the airport (12 minutes). Double rooms are about $280 and transfers about $25 each way. If you take one of the shuttles above, the hotel can help arrange a ride to the meeting points. Airports: The main airports are: Nairobi - NBO Kilimanjaro - JRO Entebbe - EBB Dar es Salaam - DAR Kigali - KGL Mombassa - MBA
we highly recommend you use Martin Travel above but here are links if you want to do some research!
Please plan to arrive at least 2 nights before your climb. This will allow you to settle in, acclimatize to African weather & food, give your luggage time to catch up when delayed, and give your outfitter time to check your gear!
